This collection of long essays defies classification. I especially call
to your attention the masterly piece, "What If Freud Were Phyllis?" The
footnotes are almost as long as the text, but I enjoyed them all and
gained understanding of the subtitle, "The Watergate of the Western
World". Steinem takes things written by Freud himself and switches the
gender, allowing us to see how incredibly sexist his viewpoint was.
The other essays are on topics dear to the author's heart. A very
interesting book.
